This is a question caused by problems I am having with a miss behaving mouse.
I recall seeing at some time a cups and balls type of routine that uses computer mice, and the ball in said item rather than the usual cups.
I may be dreaming this up though. If so, Its mine, and it will be in the book when I get a chance to finish it!
In the mean time, anyone know if this fab idea has appeared before?

Alhtough I don't have a very wide knowledge of effects and variations, this isn't something I've heard of before. It sounds very intriguing and the accepted action of sweeping a mouse over a mouse mat/close up pad should mean instant acceptance of the jiggery pokery by most specs. Suggest you just go for it and offer to add a credit in a later edition if anyone comes forward to claim it!

I suspect I may of hit on something new. Cool. There is a very nice way in which you can hold a computer mouse which allows the fingers to curl beneath the mouse. This makes stealing very easy. Rather like some stealing done with the shell and pea.Have a play around, and you will see what I mean.

I was playing with the mouse while writing the earlier post with this in mind and I could just visualise the ball being stolen etc. Very straightforward indeed. Lots of swirly motions if neccessary, lots of curled fingers due to the low height of the Mouse - almost tailor-made for a C&B routine! Suggestion for a final load - a small sugar or chocolate mouse like you get at Christmas?

I was thinking of a rubber insect.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I'll have to stop now, as my mouse has a bug."

Maybe have three different loads.

"I'll have to end now, as I think my mice are acting up. This one's given birth (Mandrake's sweet mouse), this one has a defective chip (a potato chip cut from foam) and finally this one has got a bug (insect)."

Good plan, you could make it look like you've pulled the "optic bit" (sorry, I'm not that technical!) out are making it float about a bit.

I know this is a bit of the original topic - but I've done the d'lite thing with an optical mouse a couple of times and it works really well. I'll do it in the cotext of chatting with a coleague(sp?), casually pick up his/her mouse while I'm talking. I take some light from the optical bit, look at it, 'put it back' and put the mouse down. I'll carry on as if nothing happened and wait for it to sink in...
It works well with barcode scanners at the shops as well - I once caused a whole shop to come to a stand-still when one of the tellers screamed - she was a bit superstitious..

I think paula meant just the balls have been used for this routine, not with the mouse lol. (Maybe not though )

I work in a casino, and I have done it with money rolled and taped into tubes with roulette balls. Good idea for anyone else whos a croupier LoL a themed cups and balls, not sure if thats been done either, more than likely at some point though.

The D'Lite idea with optical mouse is a really cool idea. I had a go with two optical mice we have after reading this. The battery in one was protruding so it wasnt lit, and as I stole some light from the other one, as i went to 'use' the light in the other optical mouse i just clicked the battery in and on popped the light (if this made sense to you, well done, I know what I want to say but just get carried away ) sorry
