I just bought this trick yesterday and it is a great trick if it is pulled off right. I always feel unsure about doing a DL though. It feels like it is obvious what I am doing. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about this trick.

If you are uncomfortable with "Double Lifts" you really should consider buying the "Basic Card Techniques" video by Richard Kaufman. Laurence can get it for you on this site.

It shows you three ways to carry through the "DL" and with practise, they really aren't that hard.

I forgot to mention that apart from "Double Lifts", it covers almost every other basic sleight, demo'd beautifully (if perhaps a little over dramatically) by Richard Kaufman.

Hope this helps as in my opinion, there really is no substitute to sitting doen in front of a good instructional video.

Hi Rod
Colour Monte is a fantastic effect. I found the sleights to be quite easy though I'm no card expert. It was the co-ordination of the story to the moves that I found difficult at first.
As far as the DL goes, because there are only three cards in total you can think of separating the top two cards as just sliding off the bottom card... the effect is the same.

I have worn out two sets of the effect, I love it that much. The first time I bought Color Monte must have been about 25 years ago and it is still one of the best 3 Card Monte effects available.

I does take some practice for some of the moves and some memorization to get the routine down pat, but the effect and storyline that goes with it can't be beat-especially with the surprise ending. Finally the cards can be fully examined after the performance.

4 of 4 stars....

Color Monte is 100% sleight of hand (no gimmicks). It is, however, a far better effect than Face Off

It is well worth learning Color Monte. There is only one main sleight, which is actually made much easier due to there only being 3 cards.

colour monte is a favourite routine of mine especially when done impromptu

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..
