Dale Carnegie wrote How to Win Friends and Influence People in 1936 which has sold many millions of copies over the years. Someone had suggested I read it and I am glad that I did. Here's a quick take on how this may apply to magicians and also contains the story about Carnegie's meeting with Howard Thurston.

Shhh... this is the big secret to it all and if you tell everyone about the little $15.00 book they won't spend the big bucks on those "How to Make Millions as a Magician" courses that basically say the same exact things.

The Carnegie material and still available courses are priceless and still the biggest secret weapon of the real business world.

I read a different book which I consider far more amusing. It was entitled "How to lose friends and alienate people"
