Quick-Change Bowtie by Lex Schoppi

Postby Contrabass101 » Jan 20th, '09, 01:21

Hey,

Does anyone own the Quick-Change bowtie (and/or necktie) by Lex Schoppi?

Is it a good-looking, quality piece of clothing as well as a trick? Or has fashion been sacrificed for the effect to be possible?

I consider buying it, but do not want to end up with a less-than-decent looking bowtie - even if it's primarily a magic prop.

Judging from the price, it should be good, but so much more reason not to make my move too soon.

Thanks,

I do indeed.

I bought it for a one-off use, and that was on stage. On stage, it was fine.

But it's not the sort of thing I'd usually wear. It's a triangular ended bow-tie, and it just doesn't look quite right to me.

Moreover, there is something which gives away the face that it's not an entirely normal bow-tie if people were to look.

Note that it can only really be used with an open collar (probably more common on dinner shirts) , and not with a closed (folded down colour).

It's sitting in my magic cupboard, and probably won't get used again.

Having said that, it went down really, really well and it is a very well engineered item.

Josh.

Id recommend buying the Quick Change book by Lex instead. If I remember right its about £40, but it has all of t he patterns and techniques for lots of different quick change effect - including the bow tie.

Well worth a read, even if you dont do quick change.

That's very kind of you, but I'm not living in the UK... so thanks, but no thanks :)

I think I'll go for the book.
