The Amazing Jonathon Show

Riviera Hotel and Casino Las Vegas Tuesday 16 November 2004

I was fortunate to be staying at the Riviera Hotel while in Las Vegas, where the Amazing Jonathon was appearing.

The warm up for the show consisted of video clips from comedy shows. A camera then began to focus on members of the audience with appropriate/inappropriate titles ranging from their sexual orientation to possible physical defects. In the setting of an adult comedy show it was all very funny.

AJ is also assisted by Psychic Tanya who plays an atypical dumb blonde assistant and is very funny in her own right. The show lasts about 2 hours and is much more comedy than magic I laughed so much I can not actually remember any the magic he did do !

You do not need a sick sense of humour to enjoy the show but it would help not to be too prudish. I would recommend the show if you have a good sense of humour and enjoy irrelevant magic?

The web site for AJ is

As an aside

AJ has also designed the web site for Billy McComb.

The Riviera Hotel also has a Las Vegas Magic shop with a good range of low cost and quality props and is open from 9am till 10pm and is well worth a visit.

You may think why only take in one magic show while in Vegas, well this being our first trip and only having a 4 night stay, there is far too much to see without spending time in theatres. We did see one other magician performing in the shopping mall of the Aladdin but missed his name.

I also stayed in San Francisco and while down at Fisherman’s Warf near pier 39 saw some dodge characters performing the shell and pea gambling game, common sense kept me far away from them but it was interesting to see the size of crowd they could gather even in these enlightened times, fools and their money it will never change.

Count me in as a big Jonathan fan! :P I've been a fan since I saw him on Comedy Central (a TV station here in the states) and I got to see him live when he came through Toledo. Good stuff!

I think hes really good. But I saw that same show on comedy central. I thought he was going to change his act completely? Thats what I heard. I saw an old one where he was doing the knife through arm. And the bowling ball/ballon fake out, and flippin the bird. He needs to remain crazy!
