Many meetings

Postby frodolives » Jul 9th, '08, 16:55

Hello everyone,

I was looking for a "beginnerish" meeting in London and I wound up here. Are there any plans for another meet anytime soon or can one be arranged?

This is my first post on TM, but I have been an avid reader over the past few months and it's been an invaluable resource in times of confusion.

Thanks for allowing me to delve ever so slightly into your magical minds!

Andrew

Hello there, I randomly meet up with beginner level Magicians once in a blue moon in London and am the starter of this thread! There hasn't been a meet with the people I usually chat with for quite a while so I guess we can try and get something sorted!

In the meanwhile, head over to the Introduction thread and introduce yourself and what kind of magic you are interested in and are learning/performing!

just jump right in with the other lot they're a great bunch.

A couple of us will be drinking in the Coal Hole on the strand next Tuesday from about 5.30. Don't be afraid!

Thanks for the quick & friendly response!

I would've definitely come down on Tuesday but I'm working until 9pm so I'm gutted...

How often do you go down there?

I will endeavour to go and introduce myself now as suggested.

Thanks again.

Im going to try and get people together either this weekend or next. Often we just go to International Magic or Davenports and then just to the pub!

I still don't see why you all don't just join up with the main TM gathering.....

Because the TM meetings are not always suitable days/dates for everyone, plus I'm sure some people here would feel rather intimidated?

i used to feel intimidated before i actually went to these meet ups but infact there is nothing to be worried about.

The people are really helpful, don't take the mickey and as a result I've improved a ton learning from the guys there.

It is hard to decide to turn up or not but ability is not a reason to put you off as people are really welcoming.

As for tuesday - we'll be there till 10 ish usually and I can stay out until the last train as I'm only there for work :)

Agecroft is right you know, don't be intimidated. The regular London meet isn't a hive of expert magicians waxing lyrical about who can do the hardest sleights.
To be honest after several pints there is usually an *rse and elbow confusion along with spilling of drinks, poor taste humour and a curry.
I'm not sure magic was even mentioned at the last one.

Even if you are an absolute beginner come along and just watch the carnage. There is no pressure to perform any magic if you dont want.

Well I will keep watching this space until a date I can make comes up. I'm working quite a bit at the moment but the good news is that Pete Firman is doing a show in September at the theatre I work at. That should be a pretty good day at work I imagine.
