Masked magician

Sorry about the previous message got it wrong in posting.

Anyway - yes its wrong to expose, but how many non magicians will actually watch & remember. Also how many times have we all watched a performer do a 'trick' that we know the secret of but still enjoy due to the performance. My thought is that ultimately we go out to entertain the public doing 'magic'. No-one complains when you see a fire eater or juggler even though we know how they do it. Give it a couple of weeks and it will all be forgotten, or we will do an illussion with a different routine or method and the public are thrown off balance.

That's roughly what we said when those shows were first broadcast, yes some working professionals will find parts of their act are now 'known' but most people outside of magic haven't seen the programmes or won't remember much of the details if they have seen them, only magicians tend worry about these shows. I've noticed that the first 4 shows made in 1998 and the fifth made in 2002 were silent but had a soundtrack, lids closing, doors shutting etc but the new 2008 series has none of these effects - silent magic is OK but these are just soulless. There are still some of the 2008 series to be broadcast in the UK so keep eyes and ears open for news - we need something like this to look down on and criticise!
