Do any of you have this book. I've heard quite positive reviews so far. Here's a website: http://www.sleightofmind.info

I just got this book two weeks ago and have been dipping in and out of it ever since. I think that anyone trying to review it fully will be up against it though, there's just so much in the book from so many different aspects of mentalism that I think it's very hard to categorise. It's made me think very carefully about how I present my effects and myself, and given me a whole range of new things to try out. As someone who is linearly challenged (completely unable to read a book in the right order!), I began with the later hypnotic effects, rather than the NLP/suggestion stuff at the begining. Although I've been interested in Hypnosis for a while, I've never had the bottle to include it in any of my performances. But, after a false start I managed to pull off one of the books more startling hypnotic techniques with far more ease than I could have imagined. Is hypnosis really always this easy? Anyway, although I admittedly haven't finished it yet, I'd give this book full marks for content and entertainment value. Brill'! Anyone with the slightest interest in the use of suggestion, NLP and hypnosis should buy this.

The only place I have seen that stocks it is a site from Denmark. Is that the only place that stocks it, or is there a stockist in the U.K?

I bought my copy from www.mreenterprises.co.uk Apparently mine was the second last copy they had (sorry  )
Apparently you can also get it here:
www.magicshop.co.uk but I looked and couldn't find it.

Thanks for the review. From what I've heard about it I really can't wait for it to arrive. Just trying to think of a way to break it to my wife that I've bought yet another book..

Hypnosis question

Postby SGChiles » Jan 24th, '05, 12:13

Hi all. Sorry, I'm not sure how much this forum is used, so I'm posting this to Magic Cafe too, is that okay?

My question is: I've now gone through Sleigh of Mind and tried out all of the hypnosis things in it with at least some success in all cases. What worried me though was I found it very hard to tell when my subjects were pay acting as it seemed a bit too easy to do, do you know what I mean? gave them the patter and expected to have to keep at it for quite a while. But in fact they responded really quickly and to miy mind, a bit easily. Does anyone here have a reasonable amount of experience in hypnosis and can tell me if this is usual, or was I just lucky? And, where do you take the subjects yourself after doing the inductions? There just seems to be a lot I could be doing after this, but I can't think what to do with it. Any ideas?

I have read the book once through. It's great and I'm glad I bought it, but I think my expectations were also a bit too high, based on some of the reviews I read. It's the kind of book that needs to be read a couple of times to fully appreciate it.

I'll review it once I've read it a few more times and actually tried some of the stuff.

Really this is one of the best books I´ve read in a very long time.
It´s to the point - no messing about. Finally a book about NLP & hypnosis for the working mentalist.
Read this and then go back to your Knepper, Jermay etc. material and you´ll find you have a lot better understanding of how to creatively access their routines (and which you should leave alone as they be nothing more than hyped pipedreams).
In any case you should get this before your colleague/competitor finds it !!! It will put ahead of the pack... Actually forget what I just wrote... It´s c*** (not the best). Don´t buy it !!!

HI-

I haven't read the book.... and as I am still paying off my hypnosis course it may be a while. I probably would find the money if I could get my hands on it. Currently nobody seems to have it, here in the states.

Everything we learned in my 300+ hour course says ...
YES - it is that easy..... And if you are talking for much more the 3 minutes without some results, then you need to re-examine your approach.

Hypnosis should be fast and easy!
