I'm not a fan of the Red Nose Day Event as such but having seen some African poverty for myself, I know there's a tremendous amount of work required which will take years to accomplish. Literally a pound or two will make a huge difference, often the difference between life and death. Last year we donated some cash to some projects which we'd been to visit and the organiser of one of them e-mailed back to say they'd used some of the money for a family living out in the bush. The mother was on her own, the father having deserted her on the birth of her twin daughters some 8 months previously. One twin was doing OK, the other was sickly and not expected to live. The agency used our cash to buy medicine and food for the sick girl and within 3 months not only was she well again, she'd started gaining weight and was almost catching up with her sister. The total cost involved was less than £15. No, you don't have to join in Red Nose Day but if you're lucky enough to have a bit of cash to spare, it's worth donating some of it.

That's a really lovely story, Mandrake and just goes to show that you really can make a difference to someone's life

My band (ROUGH JUSTICE) are playing at O'Neills in Woking tonight. We are going to "charity auction" the chance to sing with the band, probably on an easy well-known song like "Brown Eyed Girl" or "Mustang Sally". Should be a laugh and make some money for a good cause.

This guy at work seems to think it is Brown Nose Day. Unbelievable.

Stubbins and I did a lunch time show at work in aid of Red Nose Day, he was great i was terrible but we raised a £100 from it and I chalk it down to experience!

Might collect something at the meet today as well, what bank can we take the money to? does anyone know?
