Making a Necklace appear from a paper burnt

Postby koreanwasapi » Apr 30th, '09, 16:34

Hi, I was just wondering, it's for a birthday occasion...I saw a few times on tv where the guy takes a napkin/paper or something and burns it and it goes up in flames and then voila! out comes a necklace out of nowhere in their hands...Can anyone explain the mechanisms behind that? Is the person just holding onto the necklace the whole entire time? Its not just a necklace Ive seen done, there has been a rose that pops out of nowhere from a paper going up into flames...Please let me know! Thanks!

There are a few ways that it can be done but my favourite is to have a fairy sitting on your shoulder (make sure that she casts her invisible spell first though) and at the right time tell her to wave her magic wand and make the necklace appear.

Or another idea would be to have a look in some books, there must be one with it in somewhere but don't know of any off the top of my head.

I have a request - where's that "Oh Dear" emoticon when I feel I REALLY need it :? .

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

If you haven't caught on, WE DON'T DIVULGE SECRETS ON THIS FORUM

This forum is for those that appreciate magic and respect the concept of keeping it a secret. We discuss routines, approaches to creating an act and other such elements but will not reveal secrets not encourage folks to patronize those forums that ILLEGALLY and UNETHICALLY promote exposure. Such groups are highly immature, have little (if any) regard for the art of magic and quite frankly, everyone involved with them needs to be shot... but that's just me, I'm an old Carney that believes in breaking the legs of jerks who threaten my livelihood. 8)

Now, as to your question... you will find at least a method or two if you BUY and READ/STUDY the Tarbell Course in Magic. The amazing thing is, you will learn HUNDREDS of tricks in doing this and quite possibly discover that you could create an actual act of your own that is respectable because you chose to respect both, the art as well as yourself by actually making the investment of time and a bit of cash.

 One Other Thing... you might want to introduce yourself and make some positive contributions to the forum (any forum) before you start panning for secrets.

maybe they are gaffed flames? I'm sure ellusionist sell a DVD about how to make gaffed fire that you can use on the STREET.

Were the flames strongly coloured? Some metals are used to colour flames, so if you had green flames there may have been a hidden copper pocket inside the fire that the magician uses to keep all the secret stuff. Of course, it would have to be quite flexible which would be OK with a necklace, but I suppose that a rose would be quite a thorny issue to bend inside a hidden copper pocket.

I have to say though, I found this pot quite refreshing. When was the last time we had an honest to god straightforward 'How is this done?' post? It seems all we've been getting recently is "join our site', 'buy my trick' or 'I've lost the instructions and I need to know blah'. This strikes me as less of a 'sneaky b*ll*cks' con thats insulting to our intelligence, and more of a 'I bet I can find out how thats done online... oh whats this? A site where they talk about magic, just the ticket.' line of thought.

It's less of the man in the street giving you a story about needing 20.p to get home, and more of the tourist asking if you know the Queen.

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.

Wonderful It's not like I can even categorically deny that typo.

That doesn't work. I know because I tried it and Fairie's spell of invisibility failed at the critical moment, leaving me standing there with her perched rather precariously on my shoulder. Bit of a giveaway, that. :?

Not sure about making a necklace appear from flames but a few years ago Gerald Ratner made a silly comment and his entire jewellery shop empire disappeared... :D

Anyway, koreanwasapi, as you'll have guessed by now we don't give away methods of doing effects unless they're our own. Other people's effects are their stock in trade and they deserve the income from them. Instead of asking how it's done, why not just sit down quietly for a while and figure out your own way of doing it? You've described the basics and it's not too hard to work out ways of achieving such an effect - best of luck  !

Here is a link to a DVD which teaches the rose effect you mention.

http://www.kjmagic.com/catalog/books_dvds.html

Once you have learnt that, the necklace will be obvious for you.

Hope that helps and good luck.
