Hi everybody, in advance I am pleased to meet you, and also officially looking forward to both learning from and adding to the general creative atmosphere of the site.
My name is Josh, I'm 21 and I am pretty sure that first and foremost i am an entertainer, I just happen to be a magical one. I have a few different goals but I mainly want to focus on the showmanship aspect of it. I work street, but i try to gather a crowd as opposed to working with a small group.
I would like to learn everything I possibly can on how to develop a performance character that is versatile enough to be interesting in both stage settings, and street show settings. My experience is mainly doing street shows and some light mentalism for house parties. My specialty is chain escapes with a lot of audience participation mixed with some vaudeville style physical comedy.
Originality is what I constantly strive for and I love bouncing ideas off of like minded peeps.
I am slowly working through Dai Vernon's expert card technique, and I am really not sure where to go from there. I want to do a pickpocketing act or an eccentric "drunk magician, everything goes wrong" act. Also any thoughts on developing a birthday party kids act would be greatly appreciated. Like everyone else in this world I am short on money and big on dreams, but nothing makes me happier than breaking people out of the monotony of their routine existance, and getting them to rethink how they percieve reality if only for a moment.
Thanks for letting me ramble.
