Dragons pearl Vs Up the Ante

Postby Relish » May 22nd, '09, 12:04

just received an e mail with this effect:

------------------------------------------------
UP THE ANTE - By Martyn Smith - INSTANT DOWNLOAD

Imagine if you will that a spectator is able to cut, deal and shuffle your cards, without you touching them whatsoever, and yet, you are able to make the most unbelievable bets upon the cards he or she deals to the table! There is no sleight of hand and this works with totally un-gaffed cards! You are able to bet that the first several pairs dealt face-down to the table will contain both a red and a black card. When you have had enough of challenging your opponent in this way, you then propose that the next group of cards dealt will contain one card of each suit! This is repeated a few times before you make the final, outrageous wager that, if thirteen face-down cards were dealt then that group will contain an ace right through to a king - thirteen different cards in all! Amazingly you are able to repeat that feat a second time.

anyone else think it sounds a lot like Dragons peal from Green Lite?

does this happen often when effects are tweaked and re-released?

The official blurb certainly says
Imagine if you will that a spectator is able to cut, deal and shuffle your cards
but shouldn't it be 'shuffle, cut and deal'? No point in shuffling after a cut and certainly difficut to do so after they've been dealt  !

The method (inferred, as I've not seen the trick) requires a cut and shuffle, in that order. Scripting can get around that.

Take care, Ian

When I devised Up The Ante, I had never seen Dragons Pearl and was unaware of its existence. The question was raised, prior to an earlier release date for Up The Ante; the release was halted whilst we contacted Lennart Green. Mr Green received the manuscript and then gave us his blessing to continue.

Definitely cut...dealt....and then shuffled! Trust me! It is a whole deck shuffle, a riffle shuffle, but cut, dealt and then shuffled and in that order! It makes sense when you see the script!!
