Difficulty: A couple of very basic sleights required so technically a 3 but it’s not difficult, mainly showmanship rather than finger flinging.
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used, 4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)
What it says on the tin: You freely display a deck of red cards and invite a spectator to select any card they wish from the deck and then sign it. The selected and signed card is then returned to the deck, which is cut a couple of times, and amazingly their signed card jumps to the top of the deck! You then take the signed card and place it inside an envelope, which is then sealed to ensure that the card inside cannot be tampered with.
Next, dispose of the red deck and replace with a blue deck of cards, which are still in their box. You slowly take the blue cards out of the box and hand them to the spectator, who then looks through the cards only to find THEIR SIGNED SELECTION in the centre of the deck! That’s right! The selected red backed and signed card is now in the centre of the blue backed deck!
Review: Then above really says it all. It’s a two part routine where the freely selected and signed card refuses to behave and stay hidden in the deck so the magish resorts to imprisoning it in an envelope which can be in the spec’s keeping yet it manages to appear in a completely different deck which has been in the Magician’s pocket all along. TM’s very own Mark Waddington has finally decided to let others in on the secrets of some routines he uses professionally so be prepared to learn some good, tried and tested magic.
Overall: A nice, fairly easy effect to do which requires only a basic card sleight skill so would be good for newcomers to try out. You need to create, or more correctly adapt, your own ‘gimmick’ which will take about 1 second – it’s that easy!
Value for money: 8 out of 10.
This effect would also work as a killer ending to any ambitious card routine, and it includes the necessary gaffed cards and a few other items – you supply your own Bikes.
