Mind and Magic of David Berglas...How much will it sell for?

Postby Lenoir » Jun 14th, '09, 12:06

What do you reckon is a reasonable price to offer Mind and Magic of David Berglas for?

There were only apparently 1000 copies printed so I'm hoping it will be a fair bit!

25 quid. and ill buy it from you if you want.

seriously dont sell it. i know of no other book that has increased in value quite as much as this one.

and Though its a sad thought, its true to say that it will only go up, and up, after davids passing.. may that be many years from now!

Cheers for the responses guys.

I am not very sentimental, I only keep things that are useful to me. And although I thought the book was good, I'm not taking any more from it!

I'll probably sell it some time in zee future!

It is a good book, but I have dozens of books I prefer.

The Berglas effect section is shocking.

I was astonished when I read it to see how much Derren Brown has adapted his material for inclusion in his stage shows (one can only presume it's done with Berglas' blessing as he is thanked in the programs).

I'm sure I heard of one go for over a thousand pounds you know; either way, the chances of this book dropping in value any time soon are slim to none.

Quite a few, dear Iain.

I got given it, well, left it in a will. Sort of.

I love the book, it's crammed full of lovely stories and the Berlas Effect section is a very interesting read.

Some of the stuff is painfully stupid though.

"If you know the card they named is 5th, and the said number 8, slip three cards from the bottom to the top."

Thanks for the insight, David.

I've seen them go from anything from $300 up to $800 and more on US sites..

One sold today for $545.. If it's signed its worth more...

but if you have one, surprised why you'd sell it (unless you really need the money) as its a little (big?) goldmine..

I re-read mine on a regular basis...

I've never seen David himself do the Berglas Effect, I've seen Marc Paul do it a few times but he does it differently to the way described in the book - he hands the cards to somebody else before the card/number is named and doesn't touch them again. Which, to me at least, certainly whiffs of stooging - the way it's presented in the book certainly makes it sound a touch more plausible than the way Marc Paul presents it.

Plus I do take exception to his little beard.

Marc's effect is very strong. But its not the "berglas effect".

The Berglass effect , isnt just a.c.a.a.n routine, its an ever changing whirlwind of wonders. Each time you see it, it's going to be different.
