No one replied to my earlier post, just curious....is this because no one knows if it is possible, or no one knows the trick?

It is probably more to do with the fact that three days worth of posts all turned up overnight and people are still trudging through them!

If the question was regarding being able to get just the gimmick without instructions then probably no, but it is certainly not the most expensive effect on the shelves so I don't think the neccessity has really ever risen.

Cogito, ergo sum.
Cogito sumere potum alterum.

That's a good point! - there has been a recent mountain of posts from the same sources that are little more than one liners.

If some time was spent looking through the various archives that are available then I'm sure that many of the questions would be answered, or at least enable you to reach your own conclusion. I'd say that by all means do ask if you're stuck, but don't always take the easy approach. there are some who appear to have now reached 60-70 posts within a fortnight!

I am new to this entire discussion forum thing, and have never been on one of any kind! I have been taking some time to look through some of the previous posts but do not have time to look at all of them.....is there an easier way to see if the topic has already been discussed in the past?

Only via the Search function and you have to be specific about the words you type in. US versus UK spelling is sometimes a problem but if you wanted to see things about, for example, the Raven you'd get a list of topics which included Raven reviews, comments, criticisms etc. You might find some of the posts just use that word in passing so it's a question of locking yourself in the computer room with food and drink for a few hours and ploughing your way through.

Alternatively just click on the Review section and work your way down each page picking on any which might be of interest. A veritable voyage of discovery is on your horizon!

Firstly, I'm not intending to offend anyone with my comments and secondly, I wasn't aiming my post directly at you as there are others with nearly double your number of posts in the same or similar time frame.

70+ posts in two days for new members is gong some in most peoples book and gives the impression that people are posting for the sake of it.

I was trying to point out that excessive numbers of posts without having much to say or value to add, may appear tedious to some members and may make them less willing to support those individuals when they really do need some help.

There's a joy to logging on and being able to read some realistic reviews from the magicians perspective rather than reading a sales pitch. There's enjoyment from being able to learn through reading posts made by others who are more experienced than yourself, and enjoyment from occasionally being able to contribute and help someone, or share ideas.

Logging on to see 15 or so consecutive posts from the same person does spoil that enjoyment for me, and I'm sure that others may feel the same.

Anyway, that's my two penneth's worth so I'll leave it at that.

70+ posts in two days for new members is going some
Indeed it's a very sudden yet welcome upsurge in TM traffic and, on the whole, the recent posts are much better than on past occasions where they've been a sequence of one liners, or one worders, or just total crud - if you think it's tough reading through them, just think of the Moderators/Admin crew who have to sift through them all and remove the rubbish before it has much impact!

We certainly welcome valid posts from newbies and experienced magi alike and I'm sure those who joined recently will get the feel of how TM works very soon. Although it's a while since I first found TM, I can still remember some of the embarrassingly naive posts with high cringe factors which I made as a newbie and I was very happy to edit/delete them sharpish! :D
