Scary DB fans

Postby Robbie » Jul 30th, '09, 14:28

I've just stumbled upon the "Derren Brown Appreciation" group. Their main purpose, apart from stalking, seems to be creating fan pics.

This is my favourite, I think:

There's also a very similar one by the same artist, which she actually got him to sign. I would love to have been there.

I always had you down as a "Scary DB fan", Robbie.

well, he already has his share of stalkers. And I heard from someone that he didn't want to come to the stage door for signings after a few of his recent shows, because there were some crazy fans there he didn't want to meet

It's a great shame, not only because it must be horrible for him, but also because it could spoil things for the fans that can control themselves.

Back in the day *lights pipe - of the tobacco variety*, he was very friendly to his fans and happy to meet them, but there always seems to be a contingent that go too far.

I believe he refers to a certain contingent as "the shivering nutters".

Well that's kind of odd. A Mentalist who has stalkers. I can understand Musicians and possibly Actors.. But not a mentalist.

Then again I do recall Rudy Coby saying that he at one point had stalkers. Which is even sillier.

When I saw the show a few weeks ago, he did sign autographs and take pictures, even though he was in a hurry.

Somehow I have a feeling that if a mentalist attracts stalkers or crazy fans in general - they're REALLY crazy :? Just read the letters at the end of "Tricks of the Mind"....

This caused an excellent "tea through nose" incident.

Cheers.

A good few of them frequent his blog as well. His blog isn't actually maintained by him, but it still serves as an unfortunate port in a demented storm for this cavalcade of mentalists (to use the word in it's Partridgian sense - I actually wouldn't put it past some of these people to have foot-high tattoos of Brown on their chest).

I like DB as much as the next person, but some people are just obsessed. It ain't healthy. Get a grip, people. Go out. Meet people. Make friends.

Always remember, it's not stalking if you really really love the person...

I've changed my mind. THIS is now my favourite one of their artworks:

Together with one of the comments: "I like to think you could wear this and get some of Derren’s powers lol, that would be very cool !!"
