Pro Card Magic Set by Royal Magic

Postby xander333 » Aug 19th, '09, 09:22

Hey everybody,

I've been studying card magic for over the past month, and thought it was time to buy myself a set, Pro Card Magic Set by Royal Magic

Is this a good choice?

All help is appreciated (maybe also some beginner tips please?)

For the same price you can get the Royal Road to Card Magic from Hugard and a pack of bicycles or tally-ho's.
I think this is the better choice if you are a beginner. I'm shure a lot of pros started with the same.

Which one do you prefer, Bycicle or Tally - Ho?
I heard Bycicle was the standard deck for magicians, but that Tally - Ho has awesome ace of spades.

It isnt the pack of cards that makes the Magician - its the time devoted to practice that makes the Magician.

Just go buy royal Road and read it, and read it, and read it. Dont buy a pack of cards purely because "the Ace is cool"

Royal Magic, doesnt have a reputation for high quality .If your working to a strict budget, then it's ok. Just be aware that on the whole, you do get what you pay for.
Now when it comes to card magic, i would say to the beginner, get a few nice decks of cards, and royal road, fulves self working card magic books, and maybe one of the dvds out there that deal with general card magic.
after you work out which kind of magic your interested in, you could then progress to the more specialized dvds.
also, if your going to do lots of cards, the card college series of books is a must. :)

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

I started out with Giobbi's Card College 1 which is absolutely a fabulous start.

After that I got Erdnase's mind boggling work 8).

Also picked up the Encyclopedia of card tricks by Hugard, which is an immense source of almost sleightless tricks << somewhat I guess.

And eventually the Royal road to card magic which brought me back to basics, relearning and rethinking my sleight of hand and performance.

A word of advice, stick to one recommended book (I'd go with either Card College 1 or Royal Road) because you can drown in all the cool moves or end up buying books and dvd's which are out of your league (I own trilogy, but I'll leave the tivo transpo for now).

My post summed up: Get Card College 1 or Royal Road to Card Magic, buy a few bycicles or tally-ho's or whatever... and start destroying cards.[/b]

I got Expert card technique and The Royal Road from waterstones... and a pack of waddingtons bridge sized cards and basically went from there.
then i decided to really splash some cash on the Card collegue set..
Well worth the money.. anything you need to know is in that set!
