Doubt it has anything to do with anything, but I'm sure the shop he was begging in front of was called Browns ... nice touch!

I found myself lighter by 8p after finding myself compelled to phone into the PRS line. Tried to get through but Ant & Dec said Derren was busy.

Someone who works under me says she got stuck. Great. Now I know she's so open to suggestion I can dump loads of work on her without her actually realising it.

They would stop the "stuck" people at home from panicking. Just the same as doing hypnosis in person, plenty of praise: "You're doing very well, that's right, good." So in this case, "Congratulations, you're very receptive, this is a first, well done." You have to imagine someone alone at home and unable to stand up, getting panicky, upset -- and possibly angry and litigious.

The pictorial flashes were certainly of a person in a chair, I think tied to it, but I couldn't register anything more than that. (Annoyingly, I was generally blinking just as they came on.) Since the whole thing was supposed to be done subliminally, one would expect subliminals to appear throughout the show, and people will be looking for them. A picture of someone tied to a chair makes sense as a subliminal primer, given the aim of the show.

During the "roundy-roundy lines" film, there was almost subliminal printing in pale yellow at the bottom of the screen. Did anyone catch what it said?

I took those as a gag. They were too noticeable and jarring to be 'subliminal' in the true sense. So I assumed that mssrs Brown and Nyman were taking the proverbial.

However, as the whole lead up was a primer for the 'stuck' stunt, it might have added to the credibility for some of the viewers. Like a placebo effect?

On another note though, does anyone find it ironic that the 'stuck to the seat' stunt was the only time any of us actually had the inclination to get up off our sofas? Until that point, I was quite happy to stay welded to mine, weighed down by the combined force of beer and peanut M&Ms. I'm sure that perverse irony hasn't been lost on Derren... :)

A mate of mine texted me to tell me that he'd won the £85m euro lottery jackpot, but couldn't get out of his chair to cash his ticket.

I think I am seeing a pattern develop with these events. They all appear to be whether directly or not, common spread cons/psychic abilities.

I am wondering if the end of the series will basically be "Over the last 4 weeks I have done blah, blah, blah to prove to you that no matter how believable something might be if it appears impossible it normally is" type thing.

We all know Brown and Nymans love of denouncing psychics and con artists.

I definitely wasn't stuck to my sofa. I got up and walked off due to boredom.

That was exactly the point I was trying to make, but didn't express very well! People will be scanning recordings of the thing, looking for subliminals, so there had better be some for them to find. And the chair picture makes sense -- i.e. is believable -- in context, as a primer before the main "subliminal film".

I just had a look at the clip again and there are no subliminal words in the film, despite what I thought I saw on the night. It must have been an afterimage. It's very easy to project an afterimage into that sort of picture -- I was getting menu bars in this one! -- so I'll bet people saw all sorts of "subliminals" in it. The harder you look, the more you see.
