I am not sure whether you have been kept up with recent developments but as part of my further interest in magic I have recently been lucky enough to make friends with showbiz and magic legend Bernie Butterworth.

Obviously since the mid nineties he has been out of the country due to the scandal and unwanted press intrusion that followed but has decided to see if he can relaunch his career back in the Uk.

Anyway Bernie, strangely, has asked me to help with his relaunch and I will be acting as his booking agent and allround dogsbody and the first task has been making a promo video to announce his return to the Uk:

Spread the word. Bernie is back

Hmm, he looks oddly familiar but I can't place where from. Did he used to do children's parties?

You may find him familiar as he won Summer Season Legend award in both 1988 and 1989 and was the youngest entertainer ever to do so.

Obviously he had to disappear after the "inappropriate" behaviour on the set of his tv show "Uncle Bernies magic Playtime".

But leaving the country after the press hounded him did mean he now has the highest viewing figures ever recorded in North Korea with his tv specials "The Butterworth Experience".

As far as I know he has never really done children's parties or met Barry Mephisto. I could ask him next time I see him although it could be a while as he owes me money for the video.

He didn't happen to mention what sort of an act he does. All the promo shows is that he's a very snazzy dresser and if he's been smashing records in North Korea I imagine he must be quite a performer.

I've heard Kim Jong Il is a big lover of musicals and frequently imposes his opinions onto performers. Has Bernie ever been on the receiving end of Kim's 'advice'?
