Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

In my advice, if somone keeps trying to peep or saying they know how its done, and just are not willing to wacth - walk away, its not worth sharing somthink you have with somone who's not willing to wacth.

I once had a guy rip a deck out of my hands so he could put his card back in where he wanted. This was back towards the beginning for me. I have learned that the reason this happened was really my fault.

I just did not sell them on the fact that the card was going back to a random spot. If you just assume that all your specs are ass holes, then you can just try to stay one step ahead of them. Just really convince them that the card is lost, go out of your way.

If you can hold them off for about 5 min, then you are set. I always have less problems after they have seen a few flawless effects. At that point they stop relying on their ability to catch you. They just start assuming that you can do real magic, or close enough to it.

Dealing With Spectators

Postby S_adamson1 » Mar 7th, '05, 19:11

In dealing with spectators that want to shuffle the cards or they think that they know how its done I usually just keep ignoring them and eventually after a few effects they begin to realize that it doesnt matter what they do because you are a good magician. Keep in mind there are many card tricks in which a spectator can handle and shuffle the deck. So usually about half way through my routine I will do one of these tricks and it gives the spectator a false understanding that this could be done for every trick but would require to much time.

Its your show and you are the magician
