Dynamic Coins

Postby kartoffelngeist » Sep 24th, '09, 19:02

Hi,

I've got a job interview next week with a toy shop, and mentioned when applying that I do a bit of magic.
I'm kind of pre-empting the possibility that it might come up in the interview and have been trying to think of something short and sweet to do if asked.
Looking through my box of stuff, I found a set of dynamic coins purchased from that very boutique, which I thought might be a nice touch.

Just curious (and lacking in imagination it seems), does anyone do anything clever or unusual with them that they'd care to share? Can't really think of much other than the obvious stuff in the instructions.

Feel free to PM if there are exposure problems or what not.

Cheers

hey

good luck with the interview. Theres a nice weffect i used to do. Borrow a coin from them, get the to sign the face. Do some basic effects wth the dynamic coin set then make it diissapear. Get them to pick a card, u need to take a deck with you. When you finally make the signed coin reappear on the reverse it has their selected card written in ink.

Requires a a good knowledge of con sleights but im sure you can figure out how to do this in your head. Its an amazing effect and def will get you the job haha.

Hi Kartoffelngeist. The Dynamic Coins is a cracking little effect. I used to do it seated at a table and at the end would make the coins pass through the table-top to my hand (with a little help from my lap if you know what i mean).

Sold this effect by the ton just by going by the instructions. Remember it may be common place for us but it is not for them. Lay people love this effect. I usually use a transporter type routine from Star Trek where the coins are transported from the ship to the planet...of course Star Trek is off the air now and they are (wait for it), Lost in Space, at which point all the coins have vanished completely.

There are two versions of this trick; Marvin's Magic and Tenyo. The Tenyo version is better as the gimmick is much better quality and the secret is very well hidden, more so than the MM version.

There are many versions not just two. I happen to like the tenyo version, I can't believe I just typed that.

I know there are more than two versions; I was referring to the two versions that are more commonly available from most dealers and magic shops. And there is nothing wrong with liking a Tenyo effect! Don't feel ashamed because Tenyo have come out with some very innovative magic over the years. It's just a shame that most of their props are made out of cheap-looking plastic and can look rather like cheap toys.
