Hail and well met!

Postby crayfishuk » Mar 9th, '05, 08:21

Ok. crayfish is the name (well - on the web anyway). Live in the UK and am (ahem) years old... oh ok - 21.

Alright already!... 37. Happy now?

Anyway. About a year ago I watched a (low res) post of Lennart Green's Laser Deal in my email... although I didn't know until last week that that is who it was!

However - it reawakened in me my love of card tricks which dwindled when, as an impetuous teenager, I hadn't the patience to practice.

I was desperate to find out who this guy was, and more about his 'vanishing card' deal; hit the Web - and ended up buying Hooser's Triumph from Penguin. (I know, I know... but I wasn't so genned up then...)

I have to say that compared with the booklet on sleights that I *TOTALLY* failed to comprehend when I was 14 - videos for card magic are the best thing since sliced bread. I persevered with that one effect until I doubted I could pick up a pack of cards without spontaneously breaking into the routine!

Since then I've splashed out on various packets and Daryl's Ambitious Card DVD - and some of his Encyclopedias, and am enjoying the practice and challenge. Ah the wisdom of age...

I seem to be having a mental block regarding the In The Air riffle. The damn thing just splurges... but have finally managed to spring the cards - a lifelong ambition!!

So. That's me. Discovered this board while idly searching for the Ultimate Ambition gimmick - thanks to DaveTaylor for that! - and like the atmosphere.... so I'm coming out from lurking and pinning my colours to the wall for all to see.

Nice to meet you all.

-C

Hehheh - Thanks for the prompt welcome Zack...

As to patience - don't worry... you're still a young'un - tell me again in 14 years that you haven't learnt patience, and *then* I'll be more concerned!!

Welcome to TM - we know a bit about impetuous youth here! Your story seems to tie in with so many others, an initial interest which waned for some reason then a re-discovery later in life. As others will probably confirm, it's far more intense the second time around so you may need to lock your wallet, and hand your credit card to someone else for safekeeping - don't say we didn't warn you!

Hi Crayfish,

Nice intro.

I'm fully with you on the books vs Vid, no competition as far as I'm concerned.

Anyhow welcome to our little forum.
