Ok... that's a lot more than the old Night Club Dove Box...

If that's not a "fixed" bit of footage I'm totally baffled... none of the methods I'm familiar with seem to apply... Oops! There is one that might... it just crept up on me. I'll have to watch that clip again.

:? You do know I hate you for this, right?

There is one other method that crept into my mind, something Percy Abbott and Kirkham came up with years ago. I can't really say more than it let's things look really flat and clean from either side but it's not as innocent as it appears. But as I watch that bit, it's so dang clean...

Funny you'd suggest that method, Dante used something very similar back in his day for the Aerial Bird Catching... then again, Harbin & Billy McComb used a similar idea for the girl in Cannon

Thats a great video.

Their is a definate cut in the video.
Though its old footage magicians would definately use this for to their advantage.

Yes I hate to think it too.

Lets hope their isn't and enjoy the magic.

Joel.

Joel, There is no cut. Since posting the video, ive been told exactly what happens, and my original thoughts have been proven correct. The man was just doing the effect really well. :)

It's a very simple example of an early 20th century split screen using a protoytpe steadicam.

If you look really carefully, you can see that the rings on the legs of the birds are engraved with next week's lottery numbers.

Im a bit late on this thread, but only just spotted it, so forgive a late reply.

Great video, truly baffling at first, but I think if you look carefully at how he presents certain parts of the box as he dismantles it some he freely shows, others... not so fair. But definately look at how he shows each piece of the box as it is dismantled, theres just one bit thats a little fishy (birdy?). Wont say any more (because I may be well off and will look daft) and because that would be naughty.

But mostly because I dont want to look silly if I am wrong. 8)

Great video though, very entertaining. I do love how he has to keep switching his damn cigar away from the birds, makes me chuckle for some reason.
Thanks for posting it
