Stipper Decks (Home-made)

Postby moodini » Feb 24th, '05, 07:01

Has anyone got any advice on producing your own stripper decks? I would like to be able to make my own, that way I would not feel so bad about having a spec sign the card, doing torn & restored, etc.

Is it even possible to produce good quality at home, if so how?

but i dont really like the stripper deck , because i dont know much tricks with it ..

I was thinking of using one of those big power sanders to erode away at the edges of a deck. Not certain about this but will try and post back soon.
I suggest getting '100 tricks with a wizard(stripper) deck' by marvins magic for tricks. It has lots of ideas and routines and is a good buy.

Yeah.....I have and use a stripper deck at times. Like I was saying, I find that it can take away the spec's thoughts of a gaffed deck, when you are open about destroying a card or two with a signiture, torn and restored, or a linking card routine......and I would be less freaked out about doing it, if I could make my own deck and replace cards, etc as needed.

Homemade Stripper

For all the effort I would say just go out and buy a real one. I have made several of them and none of them come close to the quality of a real stripper deck. I also recommend not getting to used to this kinda of deck and using regualr cards as it will better you in the long run.

I prefer to use a regular deck, but you can really blow people away when you do a deck switch, and hit them with an effect using the stripper deck that appears to be absolutle impossible or "real magic" if you will! But like I said in an earlier email, if you want to have a spectator sign their card, it then becomes costly to have to replace the deck all the time, it is just much simplier to be able to use the deck for a few times, and then replace the needed cards yourself.

It's a slow job making your own deck but it can be done. Although I haven't made any for quite a while, Ive tried sanding (both power and manual) quite successfully.
The best tip I can give is make sure the cards are held very firmly in a vice. I usually mark two jokers with the lines where I want to sand and put them at the top and bottom of the deck. Be careful at the corners.

as a comfirmed stripper myself i made up a metal former similar to a card card with the angle needed preground in the sheet.
now all i need to do is stick it in the guard and clamp it in the vice and get the dremil out. :D
