Zac,

You could always adapt a bin liner bag like the rest of us do in those nude circumstances, course you have to pick the right colour off Morrisons shelf  Damn, they ain't got flesh coloured bags !!

Zigzag, on a more serious note, if you are into using fake decks (and I don't knock that cos I use a few myself) but I'd advise that you only use one per outing 8)

I've seen magic competitions where magicans take one pack of cards from their pocket, do a trick, put the pack away and then get another one out to do a different trick :? Not good.

I agree and it looks awefull when it's this obvious. However, it's probably something that many magicians do but the secret is to not make too many deck switches and those that you do make, work on making them invisible.

Somewhere in the darker reaches of The Old Forum postings is a cautionary tale from one TM member who used various trick decks but, being a clever sort of bloke, interspersed each with a non card trick so he had an excuse to put the deck away and apprently bring the same one out again. Sadly he was rumbled because he'd marked the deck boxes and one keen-eyed spec spoted that one had something like ST (for Stripper) on it but the next time it was SV (for Svengali).

Whoops - how embarrasing!

I only use an ID and a normal deck, keeping both in the same pocket and remembering which is at the front and which isn't. I use something like twisted sister to disguise the switch from the ID to the normal deck, obviously ensuring that both the same colour boxes. I also take care to ensure that any wear and tear on the boxes doesn't give the game away.

Specs may not notice you palm a card but they will often notice that one box has a torn flap and the other doesn't. Strange and unpredictable things go through a specs mind so you need to consider the detail and not take any chances.

I work to the old equation that poor planning equals poor performance.

When I worked for Practical Magic they sold a deck switch of mine which sold very well. If anyone wants details PM me, its no longer sold by them now and it was my idea so I don't mind passing it on.

It is a switch of decks in an instant. You need to be wearing a jacket.

I'm new to this forum, and I don't believe in giving out secrets to 'searchers' so I won't give this to anyone who isn't a substantial member of this forum.

Moderators, please advise me. I don't want to overstep the mark.

This happens on odd occasions, I wrote the first reply, clicked submit and it just disappeared (appropriate for a Magic Forum!), I wrote it again and then a third much shorter version. And all 3 turned up at the same time like buses in the pouring rain.

I think I just figured it out. We changed the clocks last night and most computers do this automatically but, if they haven't, then the computer clock will be different to the Forum clock. If this is the case and you do a 'View posts since last visit' the recent messages don't appear although they have been posted. This would be a good time to adjust Profiles from GMT to GMT + 1Hr.

Great party guys!!

i dont use too many gimmicked decks but do see them as a strong tool...notice i said tool cuz as soon as a spectator finds out that its a gaffed deck they no longer think of you as a true magician anymore cuz as soon as they can see its a gimmick theyre immediately thinking..well if he can do it so can i...so wut i usually do is do a couple of card tricks then go to a different trick, and after a couple of non card tricks after id suddenly put on a look of remembrance (wrong word in the wrong context..haha)...but yea id suddenly look like i remembered something i forgot and just pull out the deck of cards..ofcourse theyre used to seeing my old deck of cards but so much do they know...and usually wut really helps...is just before im done my card tricks ill do a card signing one...but ill take the card back from them insetad of letting them have it and put it back in the box but ill leave the flap open...then ill throw the box down...then before i reach for me gaffed deck ill slip the signed card into the box and pull it out..so it looks like the same deck of cards... 8)
