This question is for people who own Xtreme Beginnerz by De'vo. In the dropping cards section, he "shows off" and when he drops the card at one point he says "Well the Queen wasn't my favorite card anyways."
He then goes on into a short 5 second routine of vanishing and reproducing the card.
Does anyone know where I could learn this and similar tricks?

If you like to learn from books then I recommend 'The complete illustrated book of card magic' - By Walter B Gibson. I borrowed my copy from the library about 15 years ago and never gave it back (I hate to think what the late fines on it are by now) It is available used from Amazon for as little as $8

If you prefer DVD then I would recommend 'The art of card manipulation' - By Jeff McBride.

thank you very much. I do prefer DVD's so I'll look at that one. But there's three volumes. Do you know which one I should get for what I want?

Volume 2 is the one that you want bro, McBride is absolutely amazing!

All this stuff looks extremely difficult. But I welcome the challenge. I'm a bit worried that a lot of the stuff here won't be applicable to close up, due to angles and whatnot. Do you have anything to say about that?

Nothing in life worth having is easy, practice hard and your labour will be well repaid.

With many sleights angles can be an issue, however with study and practice you will learn various sleights, moves and principles that will allow you to perform a good card vanish in almost any environment. I can understand why you prefer DVD's but I implore you to invest in a good book on the subject if you are serious about learning card manipulation.
