Seems the world has lost another wonderful musician today(well technically
yesterday). Anyway I don't know how many of you like heavier music, but news was put out earlier in the evening that California basted metal band Avenged Sevenfold lost their drummer. Said he was found in his home, appears to have died from natural causes. At 28.
I'm sad now. He was one of my favorite drummers

Sad News indeed... I so wish I'd gone to see A7X earlier this year now.
A7X helped reignite my love for metal music and he was a superb drummer... A sad sad day

It should be noted that he and the band's love for drugs were well publicised, still sad though

They had an admitted love for the drink yes, but around the time City of Evil came out they had pretty much laid off the drugs from what I'd heard. I think after the debacle with the singers voice they all kinda cut that stuff back

Ach, that's a shame.
I'd be interested to know what counts as "natural causes" for a 28 year old though

Did he ever do session work for Boyzone?
I have a feeling that close proximity to Louis Walsh might be dangerous for any young man...

Yes just like Queen they like to play hard... but they had calmed down a lot and as usual a lot of the stories were far fetched though Syn himself admits there have been times when it's been a problem. That said though they were working hard having just toured the fourth album and well in to writing the fifth.

My (fairly obvious) theory with these things is that the popstar dies of a heart attack, and this is classed as natural causes.
The fact that cocaine use is a great way for young people to give themselves heart attacks is simply left out of the headlines...

The other guys say they're prolly done with the band now. Really brought my girlfriend down.
She's obsessed with em and didn't get a chance to see them in concert.
I'm curious about something though.
(Believe me, I'm not trying to start any kind of scandal, I'm just curious.)
How often does a 28 year old just up and die?
Seems odd. Whatever, just my thoughts.

The God Machine's bassist, Jimmy Fernandez died suddenly from a brain tumour in 1994.
In my opinion, they were one of the best bands around at that time, but Jimmy's death put an end to the God Machine completely.
Conditions lie dormant in many people. We don't know they're there until they take effect.
It sucks.

Eviles Bass player(the name eludes me at the moment) died earlier this year as well. No warning signs or anything he was fine one day the next he was gone. Same thing happened with the original singer of drowning pool i think.
It really sucks to see such great talent falling like that. It's happened way to much in 2009 I hope 2010 sees less deaths. And I truly hope A7X doesn't break up because of this as you said. I don't think it would be the right thing to do.

Happens once or twice every two years in Ireland that someone in their late teens or early twenties drops dead from a heart attack, normally while playing sports. No drugs or anything, just a horrible underlying condition.
