Anywhere Cards !

Postby eveningzoo » Jan 7th, '10, 22:13

Heloooo,
I've been using an effect for years I belive is called "Anywhere Cards".. or perhaps "Cards Anywhere". The routine goes thusly... Spec chooses a card from the deck, the deck is shuffled and the spec counts through the cards dealing them out one at a time on the table.. Strangley there are only 51 cards in the deck OMG !!!.. Their chosen card then appears..well anywhere..in a box... under a carpet... wrapped up in a worm...in a pie...

My version is still working very well however I wondered if this is still on the market and if so..where ? I've been trying to get extra copies of it just in case anything happens to my version..if you get my drift. Anyone know if this is still around ??

Cheers,

EZ

Why do you need special equipment to do this?

I'm thinking the same as Johnny, why not work out an ungaffed version. Wouldn't be too difficult to do.

Hi Eveningzoo. Im not sure if im thinking of the right effect here, however there was an effect available a couple of years ago called 'Anywhere Cards', it sounds like what you described but there were 2 cards selected instead of one. I havent heard anything about this for a while so it may be discontinued. The special card used can be made using card splitting techniques. If you are only having one card selected and vanished (instead of 2) then a standard df card is all you need - packs of these are available from most magic shops. If i am thinking of a diffirent effect altogether then please disregard my ramblings :)
Are you comfortable with palming ? Although the 'Anywhere Cards' is a nice little effect and very clean looking, the downside is that the card(s) cannot be signed. In any 'Impossible Location' plot - with things such as cards, bills etc - a signature or identifying mark really helps to sell the effect. Using palming you could perform the same effect with a signed card :) jim

I have no problem with gimmicks, but in the effect described here I would toss the gimmick out and learn how to palm a card learn the classic Card Under Glass Routine. Forget about counting 51 cards how about having them choose a card signing the card putting the card back in the deck and then you can produce the signed card from just about any location. No gimmicks no worries just some basic card technique.

Thanks everyone :) Its actually for a magician friend of mine who saw me perform this and went crazy for it. I said I would try n get hold of it for him. I'm a Mentalist mainly, but I love some card routines...am just not very good :P lol...What kind of moves are required to do this kind of effect ungimicked ?....and are theere any routines for this available in any books? Card College ect... And yes, "Anywhere Cards" is the effect where two cards vanish..although I usually only ever do one...I find it works much cleaner.

Hi Eveningzoo. Essentially all you need is a control and a palm, both of which can be found in Royal Road to Card Magic. You can then perform a signed card to impossible location, without gimmicks, and using any cards.
With any Impossible Location type effects using cards, bills or coins, an obvious solution to what has happened is a duplicate. There is no way it could have possibly happened so a duplicate is the only plausable option. But if the card or bill or whatever is signed, or has some sort of identifiable mark, then this takes the effect to a diffirent level. They can now see that it really is their card, a duplicate would clearly be impossible. :) jim
PS ive just reread this and noticed my first paragraph might be a tad exposing, if seen as such i will remove it :) . jim

    Hey Jim,
Thanks very much for that. I just re-read my post aswell and noticed it sounded like I was asking for exposure so its my fault really. Your not revealing the method really so I dont think its full exposure but, Mods, please feel free too delete post and punish as appropiate !
