From that link:
To: Magicians and Cardists
As many of you know, the United States Playing Card Company (USPCC) is now under new ownership. Many changes are being made. Many of them affecting magicians and card artists (cardists) For example, the USPCC refuses to print gaffed Bicycle playing cards. In addition, it has cut Arrco playing cards, and plans to cut Tally-Ho playing cards. Both of these decks are favorites among cardists and magician. We would be greatly disappointed if these decks were discontinued. Please support this petition, to keep the USPCC the way it was. Even if you're not a magician, we would greatly appreciate the kind gesture.

Sincerely,

C'mon folks, let's get behind this one!

I don't give a monkeys about the various fakes and gaffs being stopped, but not the precious Tallys!

Whilst I am fully backing the Phoenix deck project thing, Tallys will always be my favourite style card.

I nearly wrote this off as there had been more than a few rumours going around last year about it.

What are they thinking?

You've made a huge assumption there.
Thinking?

They're likely thinking they can save money by not printing another line of poker/pinochle decks, when they have at least 2-3 other lines available. I have yet to meet anyone (not involved in magic) even mention Tally-Ho, as much as I like them.

Presumably the sale of regular decks for magic isn't easy to check and evaluate whereas gaffs and special are. If the total value of the specials is low then they'll be self justifying the decision to stop production. If there were some way of making USPCC know the extent of regular decks bought for magic as opposed to just playing card games (spit!) they might understand the true value of that market. Alternatively, could it be just be a marketing ploy to generate more interest and reaction to pep up sales?

Ah yes - didn't we have a couple of those over here in the UK over the last few years.... Salad Cream and Subbuteo, I seem to remember :-)

I know the difference between tempting and choosing my fate

That's always a possibility. However, since Tally Ho's aren't mentioned anywhere on USPCC's official site, I'm wondering if that's really the case.

I'd imagine someone like Theory 11 or Ellusionist, who call upon the USPCC to make numerous custom decks, could simply carry on Tallys in the same manner. The price may go up a bit, but i'd imagine they'd make quite a bit from such a venture.
