Swine!

Postby Kryzal » Jan 14th, '10, 23:39

My apologies for being absent for a while. Regrettably, I was struck down by swine flu which then led to pneumonia. This is not good for one of such advanced years but I have now fully recovered.

A little advice, should you believe that you have swine flu - take to your beds! Reports that it is fairly mild are simply not tru and Tamiflu did very little (if anything) for me at all.

I wish you all well and good health in the New Year!

Sorry to hear that you've been poorly. Hope you're feeling better now. I know a few people who have had the piggy flu and it doesn't sound nice.

Yeah, its "mildness" seems to depend on the fact that you never get a confirmed diagnosis. Considering most people can't tell a cold from seasonal flu...

And now we're going to get the "what was the point in all these measures" nonsense. As Homer put it "we waste all that money getting Maggie inoculations for illnesses she never even gets!" It's a no win - if we get decimated the measures weren't good enough, if we're not decimated, then the measures were a waste of time.

Rant ends. Glad you're back among the living, Kryzal.

News this morning is that the UK, Europe and the USA all over-reacted and ordered far too much vaccine - sometimes you just can't win!

Oh well! We'll just have to bail out one less bank this year.

A 62-year-old lifelong smoker friend of mine had swine flu before Christmas. He needed Ventolin and described his lungs as "bubbling" with something resembling water for a good month.
