Postby Hodgkinson » Apr 10th, '05, 16:33

A new show has begun on Sky One called "Secret World Of Magic"

It stars Pete Firman and Alistair Cook (Monkey Boy and Tufty from Monkey Magic) They are travelling the globe, hunting down magicians the world over, learning new tricks along the way and showing off their own talents too.

The first episode went out on Wednesday 6th April at 8pm and it is a weekly show.
Don't dismay if you missed it as it is repeated tonight (Sunday) at 11.50pm on Sky Mix :D

Jeff has devoted his whole life to magic, this shows in his performance and his teaching of the art.

I can't wait for the next episode. They are going to Spain to meet Juan Tamariz. Should be a great show :!: :D

I may be in a minority here (I think I've said that before!), but does anyone find Pete and Ali just the slightest bit geeky and annoying?

They are accomplished magicians, granted, and brilliant on Monkey Magic too. The show itself is brilliant - travelling the world and meeting magic's 'greats'. I just find them both a little too, well, boring.

Then again, they'd probably think the same about me! :)

i have to agree with you zack they are a bit geeky but that is there style and there tricks are naf and basic but thats tv rather than them.

jeff mcbride is an exceptional manipulator of coins and other objects and with his dance and martial arts baground he has a natural bent towards the showy style of stage performance which has kept him in work for many a year.

its nice to see credited magicians in the home towns so to speak and get some insight into there innner workings.

We can see that by over 300 posts in under three months.

I don't think all presenters are geeky or mumsie - I know it probably wasn't possible, but imagine Derren Brown hosting the show. Or after seeing him on Faking It, how about Nigel Mead?

I just think there were better options out there, to make magic more credible.

To be honest, I'm just jealous I never saw the audtition date...

I agree, whilst still being geeky they do have a presence which is what tv and stage work is all about. And as I said before they are raising the profile of magic and anyone who does that is worth supporting.
