best reel & dvd / book tutorial?

Postby 2new2magic » Apr 18th, '10, 16:54

Hi All,

I'm fairly new to this forum although I think I did register a few years ago! Anyway was hoping someone might be able to reccomend the best reel (auto wind?) as well as a great tutorial (either book or dvd) to help me master. There are so many routines out there using this, but the few times I've purchchased thread by itself I look like an idiot and everything looks terrible. Any help would be most appreciated!

What price range? These things go from £6, to a lot more.

no specific budget in mind. I don't mind spending the money if it's worth it. The tarantula looks good...?

What kind of effects are you looking to do? Let me know & I'll make some suggestions.

Russ I'm looking to gain an appreciation and mastery of IT and ITR - Hummingbird, some of the Tarantula techniques, haunted deck, better appreciation of D'lite flite, haunted ring, good old levitation. I've actually just purchased Steve Fearson's master levitation system which some come in this week...hopefully I get a good start there.

I've purchased Steve Fearson's MLT after reading a few different posts on various forums and am excited to get it. Right now though I'm getting the feeling this is not an impromptu system.....will i be able to walk around with the hook up and use it at will? Thanks!!

Fearson's MLS uses his hook up which he explains can be stored upon your person so while it's not immediately impromptu it's a pretty quick set up. I'd recommend his hook up for floating anything & also if you want to spin a ring as per the Tarantula demo, then this can be done also. It's actually easier & cleaner IMO than the Tarantula.
The Tarantula itself is a personal thing. It's a clever idea which many like, but I'm not one of them. John Kennedy's Stealth Retractor is very similar but without the camoflage of the Tarantula. All the effects it can do bar one can be done with just I.T & without the worry of being caught with a gimmick.
For Haunted deck, floating dollar bill, ITR's & other little PK effects you can't go wrong with Michael Ammar's Easy to Master Thread Miracles DVD. Loops are also worth checking out though I'd make your own otherwise it can get expensive.
Just remember that with I.T, less is more, so don't float stuff for half an hour, just a few seconds. Best of luck!
