Flower Box Production

Postby mike55555 » Apr 21st, '10, 14:36

I've had this trick for a while and looking at getting putting into my show, however the sides seem to have fallen off and become quite hard to perform as keep the boxes to a secure structure. I don't suppose anybody has any ideas how to fix them. I have tried sticky tape and this keeps falling off and can bee seen. Any idea what they use when making them? The version I have is by Empire if that makes any difference.

Thanks
Mike

Your probably using the wrong tape.
Clean off all the residue from the old stuff with some withe spirut, or a special gum remover, then once Its totaly clean and dry, repair it with what used to be called refridgerator tape. This looks like ordinary celotape, but its water resistant, and can withstand extreme temperetures.

I think you can also get a clear Duct tape.

try looking for it in garden centres, and places that sell aquariums.

I warn you though, Its not cheap. It might be worth getting a new set of flowers instead.

somewhere else to look for tape, is Halfords. they do tapes designed to decorate Bikes.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Flower Box Production

It sounds to me that you are pulling them out too 'hard'.
The original set--'Dream Bag', later Bag of Flowers cost around £50.
Is the Empire set a cheaper model?

I have had Empire metal apparatus and that was good but I do not know their Flower Box Production

In the original instructions we were told 'to reach in; lift the top flap; engage the ribbon and GENTLY pull it up'.

I always found, that the ribbon needed to be shaken gently, in TINY jerks to cause it all to happen.

The Empire Flower Production Boxes are indeed a cheap version of the Dream Bags. There are two sizes available, a smaller version, ideal for parlour magic, and a larger one for stage. I have both, but only really use the smaller ones, which are available for around a tenner from Dude That's Cool Magic.

I'm on my second set in two years, using them in every show I do. They're of good enough quality if you stick to the smaller sized ones. Gentle movements are all that's required, but they can be quite stiff when new. The boxes are easy enough to fix with tape, but I'd recommend getting a new set, and keeping the bag for a spare.

Mike, are you using the smaller ones or the larger ones? The sides on the larger ones do have difficulty staying up, completing the square, but I've never had an issue with the smaller ones.
