I just got back from my college orientation and honors university summer program. The SUHP had a talent show among the 200+ people in honors with 13 contestants. Though the competition took place in a lecture hall, I was lucky in that the organizers provided a table on stage and had the camera man (the show was being filmed to be uploaded to youtube in the future) zoom in on my hands and the table. I performed my bottom deal demonstration routine (I found out after I started using it that Ricky Jay did something similar and I must admit learning it influenced some aspects of the routine).
I followed the bottom deal demonstration with my own original presentation of truimph, which I consider to be one of my favorite (nearly) fully scripted routines.
I was surrounded by some awesome talent, so it was a shock when I actually tied for first place. I like college already.
