Magic on TV....

Postby daleshrimpton » Jul 12th, '10, 09:07

This saturday, the Briliant movie "IS ANYBODY THERE?" Staring Michael Caine, is being shown on BBC2. If you have not seen this movie you must watch it. It's one of the best movies about an aging magician you can get.. With some lovely props, and some nice magic .

But, what might of escaped your notice is the new series of Shooting Stars , which Starts on BBC2 (again) tomorow night.

In an interview on something for the weekend yesterday, Vic and Bob mentioned that this series will be very Magic heavy. Each week, at least one effect will be performed..Stuff like Brad Manuell's Bucket head will fit briliantly in the show. Fingers crossed, we don't get exposure for a cheep laugh.
I have a feeling that Vic and Bob are above that. :)

Isn't Bob an amateur magician, or at least a very enthusiastic fan of magic, as well as a comendian?

I believe so. As long as they dont go down the expose route, this may very well do comedy magic quite a lot of good. :)

I've never ben a fan of Shooting Stars but, in view of this welcome news, I may risk a peep or two....

Awww yes Dale! This is a cracking movie. Fabulous acting, script and story. It had Mrs Thaumaturge laughing, crying, and overall having a jolly good time. Highly recommended.

...watch out particularly for the kids birthday party part...you'll know the bit I mean when you see it. You won't know whether to laugh or feel deeply sorry.hehe

I got a bit teary eyed, because i could kind of see the future me in Caines character.
And i could also see a number of old timers that i have known and lost.

It's very near the truth you know..

sometimes Painfully.

Thanks Dale. Michael Caine is a wonderful actor and I've enjoyed all his movies (although I found the recent Harry Brown extremely depressing), so will have to watch it. Until you posted, I'd never even heard of this film.
