Well , after all that has been written I really decided to try it out (at first) only with couple of bicycles, Woolly and some kind of wax.

Another question popped up (shall I use regular bicycles or it's better to use the blue/red masters edition) - saw them at ellusionist and the description said they lasted 7 times longer (+ it is only 1 dollar more expensive).

Best Wishes

Just stop looking at ellusionist. This would help you out more than any fancy deck of cards.

I noticed your question about a fire wallet wasn't answered.

8 out of 10 cats (and magicians) surveyed all said the same thing. A Jardonnet Fire Wallet is the best. You can also use this as a card to wallet as well as making a lovely burst of flame that will keep your face warm in the winter. Oh and it looks magical.

There's a normal and a deluxe version out. The deluxe costs more. I've looked at both and to be honest just buy the cheaper normal version, I couldn't see much of a difference.

That's true but don't forget he's not really looking for magic he can learn he's looking for magic he can buy. That's what ellusionist specialises in, looks good and not much technical skill needed.

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.

Nope this board is for all people interested in magic. From pro's to hobbyists. The only group this site isn't for is the 'How is it done?' crowd.

I'll tell you the secret to not wasting your money on magic. First you have to understand what is going to happen.

You are going to read all the hype and get all excited, and then you are going to put out some really good money and in the mail you are going to get 2 pages of instruction a deck of cards a safety clip and some some fishing line. (no joke). Then you are going to fall into the trap that almost every hobbiest falls into. It is totally going to suck! You were expecting a miracle and you got fishing line. What a freakin' rotten deal, and you are going to think to yourself magic dealers are all a bunch of crooks, and that brilliant effect is going to sit in your drawer and rot. You just wasted your money.

Here is the real deal. That safety clip and fishing line really is a miracle. It really will do everything the hype describes and more. but you are going to have to work it. One day you will see a magician perform a miracle or possibly you may have already seen a magician perform a miracle. Chances are the miracle was performed with a deck of cards and some fishing line. That magician read the instructions, that magician spent months working out the details and the presentation. That magician is now making his/her entire living just performing magic. Because that guy is a magician, not some guy doing tricks.

If, as has been suggested you want to be the guy doing tricks then get the self working stuff. Svengali's, strippers, a dvd on self working card tricks, etc. (nothing is self working, some things are just a little...easier) and go out have a blast. And nothing will be wasted.

Or be the magician and spend some time and make that piece of junk you think you just bought do what it is supposed to do. You will be very surprised at the results.

Oh, and the working pros? They also use self working stuff. They just present it really well.

And I just want to point out to everyone, there is nothing wrong with being the guy that is just out performing tricks and having a good time. There are moments when I am that guy. This type of magician is pretty much what the entire industry is geared towards. And sometimes it is just the way to be, not everyone is cut out to be Greg Frewin, Shawn Farquhar, Derren Brown, Terry Seabrook and the list goes on for a very long way. The trick is to be the best at what you want to be, and for crying out loud have fun doing it.

Take some of the money that would otherwise go to Ellusionist, and use it to buy:
Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic
Karl Fulves' Self-Working Card Tricks

You can get these at pocket-money prices if you shop around. Amazon Marketplace is a good place to start.

And if you still want more, try Card College Light, which gives you more self-working card tricks and will also get you thinking about how to put tricks together into routines.

Mark Wilson's book has lots of stuff besides cards. You might find that you prefer some other branch of magic. (And whatever branch it is, Karl Fulves probably has a book of self-working tricks!)

"Magic teaches us how to lie without guilt." --Eugene Burger
"Hi, Robbie!" "May your mischief be spread." --Derren Brown
