Where does one learn to perform such miracles, should one be so enclined? :D

I never saw any materials (Books / DVDs etc...) on firewalking / glass eating etc...

Is there a "bible" for this field of magic as there are for mentalism, coins and cards with 13 steps, bobo, RRTCM ...?

Just curious

As I understand it there is a carny code forbidding teaching this stuff via books or DVDs. These stunts are passed on from teacher to pupil, and by no other means than that. Paper Crane's Through And Through ruffled a lot of feathers because performers felt this code had been broken. And I doubt that was the first time.

Simon Scott

If the spectator doesn't engage in the effect,
then the only thing left is the method.

Although not a "how to" book, 'Memoirs of a Sword Swallower' has a lot of interesting stories and anecdotes from the world of carny.

Thanks to Dale for pointing me in the direction of this book. It's a great read.

there are books on the subject of geek magic, however they tend to give very basic descriptions of the methods used, and as such must be avoided, because you risk potential injury.. even death.

Not something I think I would want to learn without a teacher though :))

Luis is a magician first and foremost, and the stunts listed are those that offer low risk.

straight jacket escape, telephone directory tear, and apple twist for example.

:)

Well, you could easily break a nail tearing a phonebook you know...
