Hey there, a New York Magician here

Postby Josh_the_magician » Aug 12th, '10, 16:51

Hey guys, I just made this account a few minutes ago. I'm a magician from New York, and just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Josh, and I've been doing magic since I was a little kid. I don't remember exactly how old I was, but I think I was about 6 or 7.

Hey everyone, sorry about the poll. I clicked to add another option, 17 or older, but it didn't add. So if you wanted to answer but the age at which you started isn't an option, you can just post it. Sorry again

Hiya Josh, welcome to TM :D

I guess I first started when I was about 8 or 9 with my Paul Daniels magi set but didn't really get going properly until I was about 20.

Arn't we supposed to start this when we're kids?

I got in ballooning when I was 24 and juggling at 22.

God I'm cool!

11-16 I suppose, although I had a Marvin's magic set when I was younger. I didn't properly get into it until 11-16 though. :D

I learned to read the tarot cards when I was 23, held my first seance when I was 24 and learned about a TT when I was 39. I have been reconciling all of that knowledge ever since...

18. About three months ago really. Wish I got into magic earlier but I've always had alot of hobbies. Never got into one like I got into magic though.

My father opened a magic shop in 1974 and we (the children) were all pretty much required to help out. I've been enslaved ever since. I was 9 in the beginning.

I was four, when I performed my first trick for my little mates, at infant school - a lovely vanishing coin case, in bringht green plastic, with a dragon emobossed on it.

God, I loved my wonderful Merit Magic Set - I really *did* believe the coin vanishing was REAL magic, and was more than a little gutted when my teacher explained to me exactly how the sleeve operated.

Have loved magic ever since, and still keep looking for those wonderful effects that make ME believe the magic I'm performing is actually REAL

Hey Josh.

I started when I was 29 and gladly realised it is not just for kids.

I obviously wish I had been learning since childhood as I'd be amazing now, but none the less I don't regret the late start. It has been a captivating and delightful experience so far. :)

Welcome, I was a lot older than the choices available when I first performed in public.
