Greetings and salutations everyone. For my first post I would like to introduce myself. My name is Chad, I am rather new to magic and am interested in learning card magic and mentalism. I will be scouring these forums for information regarding these topics, but any pointers and suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your time and experience in helping such a clueless newbie!

Hi Chad, Royal Road to Card Magic is usually suggested along with many other books and sometimes a few DVDs - I'm sure the cardies here will be very happy to suggest suitable sources of help!

Get a good foundation of all areas of magic, it will serve you well. Try Mark Wilson's Course In Magic.

Well somebody had to say it.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I have ordered the Royal Road to Card Magic and it should be arriving soon. I am looking forward to doing some tricks for my friends and family. I will also take a look into Mark Wilson's Course in Magic too, though I would like to hold out on getting another book until I have finished the first one. I want to be as thorough as possible, that and I am kind of broke after ordering Royal Road. :)

We know that feeling! Mark Wilson is a good investment in a wide variety of magic so it's worth saving up for. If you have a helpful local library it might be possible to borrow a copy first to see if it will be useful to you.

That is a good idea. I will check my library to see if they have it and anything else that might look like it could help.
