I like the challenge style affair they did in the gadget show, so:

Magical Mystery Tour
Pitch celebs against each other touring working mens clubs oop north. Cards vs. Mentalism vs effects. Home audience gets to see the acts and then votes 5 mins before the act has to go on stage live. Gives the audience the chance to be mean like "I'm a Celeb" so you can see someone die on their ass if you dont like them. A new Challenge each week to come up with a new trick they then have to go and research and learn, losers stays on, winner goes home.

Thank you, I'll take my format fee, international rights and 360 fees up front.

(Oh, and would have Paloma Faith host it for sure)

Like most things TV tastes are cyclical, in the 90s when Noel Edmunds and Gladiators ruled Saturday night tv nobody would have thought that revamped talent show would be the next big thing.
I don't think a magic show will ever be a Saturday night attraction again but that doesn't mean magic can't be successful on tv.
These are strange times, a mixture of cynicism but a huge desire in lots of people to believe in other forces and 'energies'. Magicians should be able to play on this perfectly.

I think people like seeing magic still, but they need it to be 'new' - and that only means new to them.

David Blaine did it perfectly for a while.

Everyone loved watching Derren Brown without even realising he was doing 'magic'

So maybe what we are lacking is not a 'Magic Show' with the right format but a really good magician, who can give the 2010 public what they want.

honestly if somebody asked me what kind of magic i would like to see on television i would truthfully have to say.. me. Or at least somebody with my style, which is i have discovered after all these years a mixture of old school, with modern .
