Magic on Strictly

Ok so it was only a very brief appearing woman routine but it was still nice to see Paul Daniels doing magic on prime time again.

I hope he does an illusion for every dance. :D

The amount of effort that went into making that 'Magicky' just shows how much of a decent magic show the BBC could pull off. As much as I love dear Paul, that was... well I didn't like it a lot...

You dont see Goldie mixing records before a dance, or Matt Baker making something out of sticky back plastic or Gavin Henson, errr, lying on the sunbed?

IMHO it's a typical lazy producer syndrome and a way to take the rise out of Paul and make some cheezey minutes. Paul should say no and just stick to the dancing.

As we were saying on friday, Nandos only sell chicken, Pizza Express only sell Pizza and there is a reason for that.

The Co-op sell Condoms, Nappies, Beer, Fags and Funerals but there's never a queue.

Ive been contacted by people ascociated with Paul, and he told me a couple of interesting things re the Orla production.

Apparently, they gave him 3 days notice that they needed him to do something magical that lasted a whole 15 seconds..... during those days he wasnt only rehearsing for the show, but was also running up and down the country for the last of the Variety shows.

As somebody who has been in many, many non magical shows, i can tell you that it's common for the director to say " and we thought it would be fun if you could do a little magic at that point" 2 hours before curtain up.

one other thing that was pointed out was, Paul wasnt the only person to have a gimmick as part of their routine. Matt Baker had binoculars at the start, and then went into a series of back flips. He's on country file, and was a gymnast.
And Anne Widdicombe used her gimmick, which is being Anne Widdicombe.

celebs are put on this show, because of who they are and what they are known for. In Pauls Case, it's magic.

incidently if you saw the saturday show, he looked absolutly shattered. My parents phoned me last night to ask if he was all right.

Pamela Stephenson used to be funny.

She was also in pretty much every other episode of The Professionals, playing a different character each time.

She's almost unrecognisable now.

I miss the old Pamela.

She's not changed that much. When she and Billy lived in Winkfield row ( Windsor) she was always out and about . Everybody said she was nice.
