A trick for halloween

Postby Jean » Oct 31st, '10, 10:22

Here's a routine I've been playing around with for halloween. Using the Black Heart marked tarrot, a D'light and a table.

You show the children the tarrot deck and offer to play a simple game. If they win they can have whatever they want, if you win you get their soul.
A volunteer sits at the table across from you.
You look through the tarrot deck saying 'We're each going to pick a card to make a crossroads, I'll pick this card.' You show them the magician. 'All you have to do to win this game is remember this card, the magician. Now I want you to pick a card but don't let me see what it is.'
While they're choosing a card you continue to hold your card up for them to see, once they've picked a card you continue.
'We place the cards on the table on top of eachother in a cross I now have to guess what your card is all you have to do is remember the card I chose. If we're both right or both wrong you win, if your right and I'm wrong you win, if I'm right and your wrong I win.'
(Part Two bellow)

(Part two, my computer limits my text)

You look into the childs eyes for a moment and then reveal their card in whatever fashion suits you. You turn their card over proving your correct.
'So I guessed right, tell me can you remember the card I chose?'
Unless you've messed up they should say 'The Magician.' You smile and slowly turn the card over to reveal The Devil. Wait a moment then suddenly reach forward and pull a red light from their chest, smile and say 'Your soul is mine' consume the light.

For the kind hearted
After eating their soul grimace and say 'Ack your soul is to sweet for me.' Lean forward and cough up some (preferably wrapped) sweets. ' 'It seems you got lucky.'

That's really cool! Love the idea of using the D'Lite to grab their soul from their chest! Very nice!

Happy Halloween everyone! Have a good gig if you're going a-giggin'! (I'm at Harewood House with Ian lawman - ooer!)

Nice one. I'd forgotten about DLites, must blow the dust off them (if I can find them).

That's a really nice trick. How did it go down when you performed it?

Really well actually, I had kids come back with friends or family twice and I heard at least three kids say it was the highlight of their night.

However I don't think it was just the trick that sold it. I think it was the whole performance.

In order to get to my front door you have to go down some stairs into an alley where you would see me sitting at a table coverd with candles and skulls, eating.

I was out there so long I had my supper there, and thats how I found out that if I sat there eating and ignoring the children as they approached me it was really disconcerting for them, in fact two sets of kids ran off before the performance even started.

I would then look up revealing the very creepy skull mask under my tophat. Then depending on the age of the group I would either do the routine described above or if they were older I would do the blockhead.
Towards the end of the night kids were coming down because they were told to by other kids.
It was the most fun I'd had on holloween for years.

Excellent! Sounds far more fun than my Halloween show. Arrived at the venue to discover that we weren't allowed to mention ghosts, spirits or allude to the venue being in any way haunted! Quickly had to substitute words such as "ghost" and "spirit" for "energy". Just wasn't the same...

Sorry to hear that Paul. Some people's attitude to this stuff is so ridiculous. Halloweens the one time of year you can go full out and nobody minds. How could the managers think claiming their venue is haunted on Halloween was going to worry anyone?

Maybe instead of saying haunted you could've said that the venue was cursed by a gypsy after the management ran over her whole family and then reversed back just to make sure they were dead!

And where then sick on their dead bodies.

And then kept on speaking through their funeral services.

And then ate all the sandwiches at their wakes. :D

I doubt they'd employ you again but at least you'd stuck by their stupid rule of not mentioning ghosts on Halloween.

I had a great night, only 8 of altogether but it made it better then if it had been fully booked. Glass moving was great (got a spirit called Wendy come through who had took her own life becaus she had been scorned in love) then we moved onto the seance, all 8 of us round me new table (which is the best £5.50 I've ever spent) that danced and tipped and eventually dumped itself on the floor bringing the first seance to and end.

As we were runnning ahead of scedule due to not many glass moving sessions and everyone had loved the table tipping so much after a short break we had a second session, the table went crazy again and dumped itself once more, we picked it up and carried one untill the spirits told us they'd had enough!!!

Not bad for an empty room, some candles, a cheap table and a glass. Thank you very much Paul your books and workshop

Pleasure mate!

I was at a very posh stately home and the general public had bought tickets to be at the event. However the in-house events company had been given very strict instructions from the family who still live in the stately home that any mention of ghosts was a no-no. Crazy.

Did they say anything about Demons? You could have a family member possessed by Satan.

Actually I did mention demons to the events co-ordinator in a light hearted manner. She looked very cross and said "no".

Howabout faries? Most people don't realise how vicious and bloodthirsty faries are.

That depends on how they're raised. If they're raised well and given proper love then they're the sweetest little things. :D
