Coin Magic Question

Postby Rushie » May 11th, '05, 11:26

I've ordered Michael Ammar's ITCM after reading the review and what other members have said about it. I also read that it is best to practice with a large coin if using British money (£2.00) as lower denomination coins are difficult to use at first. Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated.

Also I think I have come down with C.U.PS is there a "CUPS Anonymous" group that I can join. My name is Rushie.... I'm a CUPaholic :)

I find a good cure of CUPS is to stop reading every single review and constantly visiting magic shops and try to focus on a few tricks.

Try to set yourself a goal like giving yourself one month to work on only three tricks. You'll find that you will improve much faster this way rather than trying to learn everything at the same time.

If you are still not happy to move on to other tricks or routines after the first month just carry on training, that probably means you are enjoying yourself more and really want to perfect your art; you will alwyas find something to improve in your handling of a trick or routine but you must first work really hard on each one you want to perfofm. You will probably realise your potential much better in this way.

Just keep thinking that you do not need to know every single magic trick and that, when you have mastered one, you will move on to the next and have a strong repertoire. Learn the basic sleights FIRST, practice, practice, practice - on your way to the bus/train, at the stop/station, in the bus/train, on your way to work (not in the car!), during lunchbreak, back home... and again the next day and the one after...

Of course you will always be tempted to buy new stuff (as we all are) but that's just because you are keen to learn and you will quickly understand the value of practising a trick over and over again... This is what will make you a true magician...

Anyways, hope you take some of this advice and hope you will be able to resist CUPS as we are all trying to

oddly enough fairground tokens in the uk are just about the size of a half or old english penny size so are ideal for practising coin tricks and training the hands   .
hey are also flashy for rent-vanishes.
