'tis rumoured that certain black art practices take place on moonlit nights not far from the Wychbury Inn but that's enough about the Mothers' Union.....

Actually I was thinking more along the lines of some sort of magic sweatshop. Thousands of poor downtrodden magicians forced to type till their fingers bleed, delicious ophened children running a giant treadmill to power Sim-one the mighty flesh eating supercomputer, and when they can't run anymore their flesh and bones are used as food food! How else do you explain this?

You see it's post's like these that make me feel too guilty to take you up on your offer. Curse your evil manipulative computer logic.

Had a read of my Skull Crusher purchase this evening and I have to say that while it is versatile and can be done remotely, it didn't strike me as convincing.

I much prefer Touch of Genius. It is nothing new or difficult and I even guessed the method before reaching the instructions. However, after physically trying it out, I realised how very convincing it must seem to spectators if done with suitable patter. Something that would add to the effect is to have spectators choose the cuts by rifling the edge and asking them to stop you.

More of Mega Magic to read through yet but the simple but effective effects I have seen so far are great for such a poultry sum. I'm definitely using some of them. :)

You know, I think I agree with you here Dave. There are even techniques you can employ - depending on your confidence with them - that can make the trick even more baffling. PM me if you don't understand what the four and six I'm banging on about, its hard not to reveal method whilst trying to explain it.

Purchased this as a bulk order, and tried out Skull crusher on my wife and the first thing she said was ' you couldn't do this on the radio as it is such a boring effect'.

I suppose she's got a point as you do the 'magic' it is boring for listeners!

Well my thoughts are that any trick where the climax is 'finding their card' is boring. So to make this trick work you've got to draw attention away form the finding a card bit and move it into reading your mind, influencing your behavior, the power of fate or whatever.

In my version now I don't even mention the card they selelct any more it's all about the birthday, and I'm thinking of buying the cold reading with cards ebook form them as well, turn it into a full 'phone psychic' routien. I'm going to have to wait though as money is always tight.

Although when I did it as simply finding a card with my friend after I knew what it was (5 of spades) I said to him.

'I'm going to have to narrow it down to work out what card you selected, so I'm just going to focus on the suit first of all, hmmmm, I'm picking up.... five spades, so is the card the five of spades?

By making him think their was going to be a 'fishing' moment and then instantly nameing the card I got a strong reaction.

Also your wife like my mother may be harder to impress becasue they know what we do is b*ll*cks.
