Well Andy, me old mate, you can't go wrong with the one I reviewed at the start of the thread. It's good and made of nice materials and simple to use and will make you decide if the egg bag's for you. For the price it's worth a gamble but I think you'll have fun with this one.

Bought one of these recently. This was one of the reasons I was annoyed with it as I had intended to use it with another tick. However it does look and feel nice and the see through compartment on the front is a nice touch.

A malini bag is wonderful and it's the one I prefer. However it has to be a good malini bag. Not some piece of junk.

The pocket should be LARGE. The reason cheap bags have small pokcets is because the companies making them figure that hobbiests and newbies won't know how to handle the bag properly and will be afraid of a large pocket because it will be too easy to see. And since hobbiests and new magicians spend the most money we end up with crappy egg bags!!!

The material can/should be a bit thicker than an el cheapo bag usually is because if you use a nice egg, like the Eggs-actly egg, the added weight of the egg (still light weight) is offset by the heavier fabric making a perfect match.

The bags we make are like this and so are the fabric manipulations bags.

Lastly, when the bag is lying flat (not inside out) the pocket should be on the outside. When the bag is inside-out, the pocket should be on the inside. This is very important that it be the opposite of what you would think.

At the beginning of the trick, the pocket should start on the outside and with that, you can let someone "reach inside, feel around"

Then the bag is turned inside out to show the inside (really the outside) but nobody notices or cares. Now, when an egg appears, it's quite a shock.

Doing it this way, you avoid all the shows of the bag on both sides, and the covering of the pocket with the thumb. All completely unnecessary.

HOBSON Egg Bag is not part of package anymore

Postby jeffhobson » Jan 8th, '10, 05:05

Hello,
Hope you don't mind my chiming in to add to this forum since the Egg Bag subject came up.
The Hobson Egg Bag package is no longer and is now sold separately. The hour of tutorial videos are now free . . . at:
www.HobsonEggBag.com
This Hobson Egg Bag and the eggs are available for purchase on the same site. The bag only is $84.95 USD and the "ultimate" eggs are $15.00 USD for 2.
I found that people were passing around the videos to others without purchase so I decided to make the videos free and break up the original package.
Have a great and prosperous 2010!

Jeff

I've never been attracted to egg magic. Who wants to perform with an object that plopped out of a cow's bum?

But there's a sponge egg on amazon.co.uk that I've become totally obsessed with.

*thinks about eggs*

Maybe I should get an egg bag too. I can get someone to choose an egg from an egg box, perhaps breaking the other five into a bowl to prove that the eggs are all real, then I can switch it for the sponge egg, and vanish it into a TT. That would be an awesome vanish, would it not?

Can anyone tell me/us which egg bags tick this box and which do not? And which are not black (I wear black a lot)? And which are made from thick enough material?

Thanks! I realise some or possibly all of these questions have been answered in this thread, but it's actually quite confusing...

*sits by front door, awaiting arrival of sponge egg*

My life will now not be complete until I have eaten a boiled cow's egg. Can you imagine the size of the soldiers?
