Cards recommendations

Postby annersch » Mar 14th, '11, 20:03

I want to practice some sleight of hand, and need some good decks of cards for this purpose. Where should I go to buy this online? Any recommendations on specific decks?

I always used Bicycle and Bee decks. Both are very good for card magic,

Just use what's available locally.

However, the advantage of investing in Bicycle decks is that there are loads of special cards available that match. In my humble experience, though, most of these special cards are a bit pointless and those that are good can probably be made by you (or someone else) very cheaply.

So use what's available locally :)

another advantage of Bikes or Tally-ho's or other air-cushioned cards is that they handle really really well compared to Waddingtons (Hmm, have I opened a can of worms there?). I can really tell the difference. Of course it helps to be able to perform on any media, but why put yourself at a disadvantage?

Personally I use Ellusionist Decks. I buy around 2-3 ($4.75/£2.92 each + postage) a fortnight and they last me well.

The thick stock, air cushion finish feel wonderful, and as someone before me said, air cushion cards seem *allot* better than number one cards.

I also feel Ellusionist Decks offer allot more style than conventional bikes, while retaining tons of gaff and gimmick decks to match, even each gaff deck is designed around the style of the cards you choose.

Poker sized, stock, finish, style, gaff decks, gimmick decks.

All good, I'm a big Ellusionist Card fan :)

aren't these exactly the same as bicycle, just with different designs on them? If so, for practice I'd go with the cheaper bikes!

I've found the best thing about bicycle cards, as opposed to plastic cards, is that I can spread them evenly on almost any surface, or in my hand. With plastic cards I just can't do it evenly.

keep in mind, just because you have a stienway piano, doesn't mean you are going to be a great piano player. Just sayin'.

If you've got a stienway, I'd take it back... sounds like a cheap knock-off

You of course need blue backed cards. Others that may be wrong will of course disagree ;)

No their not the same, Bicycle I think has Air Cushioning, While Ellusionist has a UV finish.

Also Ellusionist has their own type of stock which is why Ellusionist decks are thicker than regular bikes.
