Tip for making gaffs.

Don't know if anyone or everyone knows this. But I'll mention it anyway.

You can remove pips etc from the face of bicycle cards using a rubber (eraser) and a bit of pressure.

Great for making gaffs if you use them.

I'm sure I've also seen wire wool used to gaff cards for a printing routine.

I managed to make a Joker with no joker using nail polish remover.

Lol. I don't know! Ha! What can be made? Any saving is good at the minute until I am confident enough to perform in public for a fee. :)

card splitting is fun, you can make your own double facers and double backers etc. It's actually pretty easy to do too.

I quite like subtle gaffs, like removing the 'r' from 'joker' to build into a routine where you say "it's only a joke" or something.

For practicing ...., make blank faced cards using a regular deck.

Splitting cards is amazing ... if you're interested there is a DVD available (Cant remember where I got mine from ... Amazon maybe?) but its a DVD of the book called Lickety Split (spelling?).

Gives awesome advice on how to split cards, what each gaff can be used for etc - I think that the DVD and its demo of how to split cards helped me with making gaffs for VDP (not that VDP doesnt give details, but a specific DVD is way more helpful)

You can buy pip stickers too - great for making replacement cards for gaff decks or for making your own 1/2 and 1/2 cards for effects like twisted sisters, or a court card with a 3H pip can be VERY disarming for example.

I bought some of the STICK A PIP indexes, unfortunately the red pips are a slightly different shade of red to the Bicycle card pips; maybe I'm a bit OCD because nobody has noticed this when I perform with the gaffs.

I made up a set of O'Aronson's Aces and Nosnora's Aces and I must say they are a really smooth and visual version of the four ace routines.

I also made up a Bicycle version of Chase the Ace as my old Piatnik version had become rather grubby.

The good thing about the STICK A PIP decals is that if you get bored of the gaffs you've made, if you are very careful you can peel off the pips and re-use them though removing the numbers can be a bit fiddly.

They are quite expensive but I suppose cheaper than buying the pre-made gaffs.
