okay.....so I'm 2 days in and am being very disciplined and not letting myself race through the book as quickly as i can........as a result, after those 2 days I'm a grand total of 21 pages in........yay me!!!!!

....i can't get over how good this book is........I mean, everybody I've asked about it has had nothing but good things to say, but seriously.........this book's amazing!!!

......the first thing I learnt, before even starting the techniques it teaches is that for the last how ever many years I've been playing cards, I've been shuffling with the deck in the wrong hand . But now I'm practicing and practicing and so on.......and it's starting to feel really natural.....so glad i bought it.....thanks for recommending it guys.

........on a side note....... I've even adapted the first few techniques taught to come up with a nifty way of always winning a game of pontoon (if you're in charge of shuffling)............i feel like such a hustler!!!

You will get a great deal out of this book and you are going about it the right way. By the time you have completed it (and given sufficient practice to each section) your card magic will improve tenfold. It's a classic for a reason.

Practice, practice, practice. It will all work out! I remember how hard the pass was at first. Just take your time and you will be fine.

You'll wind up spending more time on some sleights than others, but with practice you'll always have a eureka moment when it suddenly feels comfortable, then it's more practice over time to make it smoother.

I have the same issue - the way I riffle cards is VERY odd (and totally self taught) - its pretty much the way that Darwin Ortiz does it ... I can get perfect shuffles, BUT cant for the life of me do a table riffle or "in the air" riffle ... BUT with time, it does come to you in a flash, there is suddenly a moment where it just happens and you get that nack for it, then its practice till you can do it blindfolded :P

How is it all going now - did you order the DVD set? he doesn't go through EVERY trick, misses out some real greats (I think he even says this, lol)

no i just got the book version, but it's the revised 2011 edition....does have some (not many) illustrations that are quite useful. Decided against the dvd
a) from a finacial point of view and
b) because paul Wilsons accent that can't decide if it's scottish or american really winds me up!!!
