The Big Bang Theory - episode with magic

Postby me_simon » Aug 13th, '11, 20:16

Someone at work put me onto a recently aired episode of The Big Bang Theory where one of the plot lines involved a card trick.

UK people can find it at http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-big-bang-theory/4od for 3 more weeks.

The episode is The Prestidigitation Approximation.

It made me laugh. It beautifully summed out how magic can annoy the killjoys.

Are there any real tricks which include putting bar-codes onto playing cards, using a bar-code reader disguised as a wand, and an automated SMS service to tell you the card?

This episode is flawed with the fact that that the original card trick is different from the on discussed!!!

The method's the same. He's just playing around with the plot. :D

The writers are playing with the idea of a magic method. There must be a magic influence/person in the Big Bang team.

Aren't they just teaching Sheldon not to be such a pain?

No. For him to learn a lesson he'd have to (a) find out and (b) be willing to develop as a person. One of those isn't going to happen.

I'd say it was more that they are having fun winding him up. No lessons required. :)

The Bar-Code –> Reader –> SMS is a hilarious way to find the selected card! :P

And to no surprise, Raj's shuffle is a Hindu shuffle!
