Extras in bicycles decks

Postby me_simon » Aug 19th, '11, 13:40

I'm having a roughing and stacking day today and the last 2 decks of Bicycles I've opened have come with little surprises. The first one was a red/blue double backed card and the other had a coloured joker.

Is this normal? Have I just been getting boring decks up until now or are these little presents?

I have had several decks with coloured jokers, but no double backed cards... Lucky... :o

Turns out it's some kind of free promotion. Instead of the advertising cards there is a double backed red/blue and a Magic Makers adverts directing you to a secret section of their website where there's a PDF and 5 minute video explaining how to do a colour change with the deck.

I wouldn't go for this kind of trick normally but for a freebie, I'm loving it!

All in a standard blue Rider Back of Bicycles.

I've been having a look through a few sites to see if there is any historical significance to the black and white and coloured joker. I was aware of the basic origin theories of the tarots fool and the game Euchre, but this site has some wonderful details.
